API not returning data

Hi, I'm looking into using the API to block form spammers. I have the code up and running but when I test it on past spammer IPs on my site the API does not return anything, it just returns the same lookup input (ie. abcdef--etc.93.203.245.173.dnsbl.httpbl.org). When I search the ip address from the dashboard, it has the ip address listed with a low threat rating. Here are a few examples:

172.83.43.137
196.17.117.146
173.245.203.93

All of these sent me spam. If I can't detect them with the API then its usefulness is limited for my purpose.

Hello..

This IP 117.54.211.182 is a valid IP that is used by a company in the health sector. This IP is not spammer. Please delist.
